Letter: Assets of Horizon Theater

To the editor:

I am compelled to respond to the latest whining about our movie theater. What you people have failed to acknowledge is that we have a state-of-the-art theater with enough screens to show a wide variety of movies suitable to every age group. Since the theater went in, I have seen more quality movies than ever before. I now average a trip to the movie theater every two weeks, which is something I could never do before. For the past few years, our new theater has brought nearly every movie that ended up getting nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture, and this was not the case with the old theater. Sure, I don’t like walking through a loud, smoky casino any more than you do. But I do appreciate the theater for what it offers me, which is a good movie. The caliber of my movie-going experience has risen dramatically, and for this I am grateful. So why don’t you people start focusing on what you do have, instead of what you don’t have?

Considering the way businesses come and go in this town, we’re darn lucky to have it! Finally, may I suggest you check the movie reviews before you go? If you had taken the time to do this, you would have discovered what a vile and profoundly disturbing film “15 Minutes” really is.
