Letter: Cancer League feels slighted

To the editor:

For more than 20 years, the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League has been supportive of local cancer patients. We have offered free transportation to treatment centers both locally and as far away as Carson City and Reno, to cancer patients. We have given limited financial aid to local cancer patients to help with their medical expenses. With the help of Paul and Judy Bruso of Ernie’s Coffee Shop, we were instrumental in supplying the vaso-pneumatic pump and the training in its use for the treatment of lymphedema. We have come to the aid of patients with all types of cancer, including countless breast cancer patients.

Can you imagine our disappointment when the organizers of “Boarding for Breast Cancer” chose not to invite our participation in their excellent event? Who would qualify better than the South Lake Tahoe Cancer League?
