Letter — City’s loss is Nevada’s gain

Although the city political powers that be, and those that were, failed to recognize the qualities and expertise of Sue Schlerf as a viable candidate for city manager, I and the residents of both Douglas County and South Lake Tahoe have significantly benefited from her outstanding public service.

Her professional attributes are so numerous, her institutional memories and competences so broadbased, her dedication, commitments and quality of work have become legend as the new standard for all to emulate.

Her loss to the city will likely soon be felt, as I expect her true value will be better known when the city takes even more costly steps to bring in more and higher paid executives just to attempt doing what Sue has been so quietly doing for the city for so many years.

As we wish her good luck and best wishes, the city of Reno and the state of Nevada welcome, value and become the respectful beneficiary of Sue Schlerf’s professional expertise and competence.
