Letter — Dog should have had leash

On Jan. 13, the Tribune proudly printed a picture of a man (John Burruel) and his dog, Cody, running along Hwy. 50 in Zephyr Hts.. One thing that this showed me again, was the utter disregard for the public’s safety by not having his dog under control with a leash. As we locals all know, the traffic anywhere along Hwy. 50 is heavy, and is forced to be confined to lanes without very much room for error. To make matters worse, the Tribune failed to make any mention of this unleashed pet. We have, for many years now, tried to convince the owners of pets to maintain control of them while out in public, away from home. “Cody” is probably well trained, and a very kind animal, but in less than a heartbeat this poor dog could find himself in danger. Further, the general public is somewhat endangered by his being unleashed.

Mr. Burruel, PLEASE take an extra minute, and use a leash every time you take your “buddy” out of your home. And, to the Tribune, please continue to stress the dangers of unleashed pets in our community. I have a dog who is my best friend, and she is always on a leash outdoors. This is he very least I can do for her safety, and the safety of people who happen by our yard.
