Letter — Family bikers are offended

After reading the article “Face Lift for Markleeville Landmark” (Friday, Sept. 13, 2002), I was compelled to respond.

Mr. Abdoo states he wants to make the former “Cutthroat Saloon,” “more family oriented.” Basically saying it attracted too many bikers.

My husband and myself ride a Harley. We even have a side car for our 5-year old son. Does this make us less of a family because of our motorcycle? My husband works very hard, makes decent money to support his family, as do all of our friend’s who just happen to own motorcycles.

Abdoo also said “Mario (former owner) appealed to bikers,” maybe that is because Mario welcomed everyone into his establishment with open arms. He did not judge people on appearance or what type of motor vehicle they choose to drive. I find it insulting for Mr. Abdoo to insinuate that our money is not as good as the family who lives down the street that drive the Volvo. Shame on you Mr. Abdoo, this is no way to run a business and succeed.

You will lose business, because there are a lot of “families” such as our’s that would never dream of stepping foot into such a close-minded establishment such as yours.

Greg and Marla Robertson,

Too much fun club
