Letter: In response to Homeless Issue Forces closure of South Y Transit Center Station

I would hope that the problem makers are not among those staying at the Warming Room, however, it and the efforts of the Tahoe Coalition for the Homeless, Unity at the Lake Church and Temple Bat Yam are all magnets to attract the homeless to settle in South Lake Tahoe. The efforts to build a larger homeless shelter will only make things worse. Once these groups attract them here, they dump the cost of supporting and caring for them on the taxpayers. This becomes a significant problem in addition to the other problems they create.

While I am all for helping people who are temporarily out of work or something like that, most of these trouble makers are derelicts on drugs and alcohol.
