Letter — Insensitive headline about a good man
Regarding the front-page article about the Vail company letting go of Mr. Harmon on June 27, I would like to point out the insensitivity of whoever came up with the headline “Heavenly’s boss shown the door.” It was utterly bad taste especially when you consider the family members and friends who are dealing with the unfortunate news.
This is the man who devotes his time and energy for community support. He speaks little of himself, but his accomplishments behind the spotlight are worth mentioning. When his co-worker (my late husband) was dying of failed organ transplant, Dennis drove four hours after work to come to a San Francisco hospital to baby sit my boys at 2 a.m. so that I could say “goodbye” to my husband. We would not have such a memorable funeral without Dennis’ help.
I am sure people around him have similar stories to share. He is a devoted Little League coach, too. I was shocked to find such an inconsiderate attitude on your part. I believe you owe Dennis and his family an apology.
