Letter — Let’s alter tone of letters’ page

Tribune

The editorial page is a safe forum for open discussion and rebuttal; therefore it makes perfect sense to utilize the press for airing personal and political grievances. This is good. Unarguably, as a society, we must expose injustices and corruption demanding retribution or correction. Holding each other, as well as elected officials, accountable is the responsibility of every American.,

Lately, I have read several articles in the Tahoe Daily Tribune that echo the negatives about our fair town and many of its citizens. The paper’s recognition of the voice of the people opens the lines of communication within our community. This allows people to express their opinions and feelings on the many issues affecting their lives. One’s ability to vent their frustrations via the opinion page is also a cathartic tool; perhaps preventing physical and/or verbal confrontations. Additionally, Lake Tahoe residents could serve each other well by acknowledging what is right, and the people doing good work for the benefit of their neighbors. I am suggesting that we use the editorial page to also accentuate the positives in our community, by writing letters of praise. Supporting each other is out moral responsibility and just plain nice.

Okay, I’ll go first. I caught a Meyers’ school bus driver expressing love and compassion to a frightened child. Kelly Alvarez and her staff at Dance Visions Studio offer wonderful programs, in a nurturing atmosphere for our children. Brenda Pallozola and her staff at Children’s village provide a safe, loving and educational preschool/daycare facility for South Lake children. Thank you!
