Letter: Loop Road decision should be made by locals on Tahoe’s South Shore

As I read Carl Hasty’s guest column on the Loop Road, had I not known better I would have thought he is a local. But Hasty lives in Reno. He is a carpetbagger attempting to tell citizens what is best for the community.

For example, he said, “We want to live and work in … The future potential gains are worth it for our resident business and visitors.”

He continues to say the Loop Road project will create “better and affordable housing for our workforce” and “this project is about the entire South Shore and what locals want in their future.”

Furthermore he writes, “We are going to take the next couple of months to continue to work with the community.”

Hasty’s essay is replete with “we” and “our.” One would think that he lives and works here, but he does not. He lives in Reno. He works for the TRPA. He is a bureaucrat, a mouthpiece for the party line. It’s a party line that arrogantly preaches it knows best for others. Those of Hasty’s stripe see only the project. Never do they see people with faces. People in the way of the project are objects to be moved off the board, out of here if need be.
