Letter — Mail call hard for residents

This is in response to the letter “Home helivery hard in winter,” which expresses the rural letter carrier opinion of how hard it is to deliver mail in the winter.

Here is another side to that story. Being a home owner inside city limits, its very hard, and sometimes due to circumstances beyond our control, its not always possible to keep the mail box clear. I leave for work at 6 a.m. I shovel snow off my car, driveway and mailbox before I leave. while I’m at work the snow plow comes by and leaves a berm, of course no one is home to shovel this until after mail is delivered.

I get off work, shovel it out again and during the night it snows or the plow comes by again, starting the whole process in the morning again. So please don’t think all homeowners are not trying. We are.
