Letter (Martin Hollay): ‘I am scared again,’ listening to Donald Trump

I have been living in South Lake Tahoe since 1958. I fled Hungary in 1956 when the communists took over my country. I came to America in 1957.

In 1940, when I was 20 years old, I was forced to serve in the military in Europe. Prior to that, when I was a teenager in Budapest and in my teens, I often heard Hitler on the radio and saw his pictures and words in magazines and newspapers.

This weekend I listened to Donald Trump speaking in Florida. My memories went back to the 1930s and his words and actions reminded me of those days in Europe when Adolph Hitler rose to power.

We were scared when Hitler rose to power, and I am scared again. Listening to Donald Trump I can only hope that people will remember the past and not allow this type of individual to gain power in America.
