Letter — People need to live with bears

This is in regards to the mama bear and her two cubs that were shot and killed. Very sad! These were our neighborhood bears. This makes me angry. The only threat those bears had was the one from the humans. We are in their territory, and the humans have disrespected that. They should have never have been killed. How about a relocation site as an alternative? Did we ever think of that before we just pulled the trigger on three innocent wild bears?

I had spotted those bears in my yard on several occasions. They were fine, however, the one that was in the wrong was the man in the truck stocking them and pinning them with his truck in between two houses. The only place for the mama and her two cubs to go was over the fence into someone’s back yard and to the next street. So, what did that man do next? He backed up and took off to the next street to do the same thing. And then we wonder why these bears get into trouble.

This letter is in hopes that in the future, we, the humans and the U.S. Forest Service, will take a deeper thought into the bears corrupted environment and their needs as we take into consideration our own needs.
