Letter (Rosemary Wood): Tamara Wallace is ‘not listening’
Halloween morning I woke up to find an email on my computer from a South Lake Tahoe City Council candidate Tamara Wallace.
Mrs. Wallace’s email was full of inaccurate information and accusations that have no basis in fact — and no place in our political discourse. I recall in one of her candidate interviews she said, “Leadership is listening.” There was no evidence in her email of any listening skills. She repeatedly attacked what she called the “Nevada-based Chamber of Commerce” and “other Nevada interests.” Clearly, Mrs. Wallace is openly hostile to a major segment of our community. This is not the approach or temperament we need on the city council.
I am a city resident, small business owner and a voter. I am an active and proud member of the Lake Tahoe South Shore Chamber of Commerce, an organization that has and continues to make many positive contributions throughout the city and the South Shore. Seventy percent of the chamber’s more than 650 member businesses are in California. That does not translate into a “Nevada-based” chamber.
Mrs. Wallace, you certainly are not listening to me or to the many others who found your Halloween email repugnant, and not one befitting someone who claims to be a leader.
