Letter — Salute to paperboys

Seems Linda Foster was “fired” up about a suggestion from “just a paperboy” who has suggested we raise the TOT by 3 percent.

Raising the TOT will not hurt business for the motels. Wake up Linda, everything is going up and through the roof. I am a contractor and all my costs have more than tripled in the last year. Liability insurance up 150 percent, health insurance up 125 percent, workmen’s compensation up 35 percent, truck insurance up 75 percent and on and on. I say raise all the taxes to 11 percent and use the money to rebuild the town and hire a full-time mayor. We are a full-time town, we need a full-time mayor.

At least the one constant I do have is that my paper arrives every day on time and in the same location. My first job in life was delivering papers for a local newspaper. Delivering papers taught me responsibility, money handling, how to deal with the public and not to grow up to be “just a motel owner.” Thank you paperboys and papergirls of the world.
