Letter: Say no to snowmaking in summer

Editor’s note: It was recently reported that Woodward Tahoe will produce snow this summer.

I would like to write this letter to express my extreme concern with the high rate of snow production in the Tahoe area. Making snow to allow winter recreation during the summer months is absolutely outrageous. Finally our watershed has seen some drought relief and the Sierra Ski Report decides it should make snow into August. The water held in the mountains has a long journey to reach Pyramid Lake and to serve all the people and wildlife that depend on it.

Nature has seasons: Summer, fall, spring and winter. In the warmer months Tahoe outdoor lovers get to swim, hike and bike and in the cold months they get to snowshoe, ski, snowboard and sled. Let’s let nature be nature!
