Letter: Shacking up inappropriate

Ruth W. Hollinger

I read your recent feature Valentine story with accompanying front page picture. We all love a good story and have personal memories that are special.

Your story was well written. However, I feel compelled to make a comment or two. It is sad that these two active seniors happily go about their chosen living style for whatever reason they consider valid, showing no concern about it, since “everybody is doing it” in our current society.

Well, everybody is not doing it and there are still many in this community, young and old alike (surprise!) who consider marriage to be a sacred commitment. Adults who are good role models for their children, grandchildren, as well as other young people, are to be admired.

In my opinion (and I’m not alone in this), it would have been well to use discretion in not reporting the “shack-up” part, both for the two seniors interviewed and for your front-page write-up.
