Letter- Solaro is fair with Latinos

To the editor:

This letter is in regard to Ms. Bettie Thompson and Ms. Joan Hall’s letters, which appeared in your newspaper regarding Supervisor David Solaro.

To say that Supervisor Solaro is prejudiced toward Latinos is a far cry from reality, no matter where Latinos live. Supervisor Solaro has always been supportive of Latino causes, including affordable housing. He has always been an active member of the Tahoe Latino Task Force, and regularly attends the Latino Affairs Commission meetings in South lake Tahoe.

In regard to rent control for mobile home parks here in South Lake Tahoe, all our mobile home parks are within the city limits and come under the jurisdiction of our City Council and not our county supervisors.

It has also been my experience that Supervisor Solaro has kept an open mind in dealing with a great deal of issues, so to say that he is biased in favor of park owners is unbelievable.

Supervisor Solaro is fully committed to obtaining affordable housing for all members of our community who need it so badly, some of whom are Latinos.
