Letter: South Lake Tahoe Rotarians serve at Bread and Broth

The Rotary Club of South Lake Tahoe conducted a Rotary at Work Day at Bread & Broth on Monday, April 18. Bread & Broth is a charitable, nonprofit organization whose mission is to feed those less fortunate in South Lake Tahoe. They provide a hot, well-balanced meal free of charge to all who come through their doors. Bread & Broth provides this service in Grace Hall at St. Theresa Catholic Church. About 100 people were served by Bread & Broth volunteers and Rotarians.

Local charitable organizations and individuals are encouraged to volunteer time and dollars to sustain this program. In addition to providing workers, the Rotary Club contributed $250 toward the meal served on April 18.

In an exciting development, Bread & Broth began their B&B 4 Kids Program in October 2015 to address issues of hunger in children in kindergarten through eighth grade. Over half of the children in the South Lake Tahoe Unified School District receive free or subsidized lunches. Support for both adult and children’s program is needed.
