Letter: Steadman tribute shows community cares

To the editor:

After reading the front page of the Tahoe Daily Tribune of Tuesday, March 20, my close friend of many years and I agree on how lucky we are to live in such a caring community, which in this day and age is like finding a needle in a haystack. We refer to the article on the tribute to Krystal Steadman. That beautiful child has touched many of our hearts. And as Douglas County Sheriff Ron Pierini stated, we didn’t know Krystal, but we wish we had. How nice of Sheriff Ron Pierini to take time off from his busy schedule to show his respect to that lovely child.

When we drive down to Carson City we always stop at the monument in her honor to pay our respects. That child has made me realize that certain things we should not take for granted and that we should always show respect for each other at all times. And every day all of us should let the ones we love and care about know how we feel. In many ways, this is a beautiful world which the Lord created for us to live in and enjoy and it’s time we show him how much we appreciate what he gave us. Love and respect toward each other is what he wants us to do. My mother said it better than anyone I know. She told me to always treat others as you wish to be treated and that you do not miss something until it’s gone. And as my friend said at Krystal’s monument, “God Bless you for reopening my eyes.”
