Letter — Summer street parking is OK

You had an article on Dec. 10 by Susan Wood about the new City Council addressing the vacation home rental ordinance. In it Susan states that city code prohibits overnight parking on the street for any residence. This is not true! One call to the city enforcement staff clarified this and other questions I had. Vehicles can park on the streets except during snow removal conditions or where stated no parking. Also, there is no city code as to how many people can live or occupy a dwelling and also as to how many cars are allowed per dwelling.

How can the city single out vacation homes with “tougher ordinances” and not apply them to everyone else? Also, how can we expect our city enforcers to treat one segment of the town different from others. Don’t get me wrong, I would love a quiet, clean Tahoe in all areas of the basin but let’s be fair and even handed to everyone and report facts correctly.
