Letter- Thanks for helping LTLC

To the editor:

I am writing in regard to your story on the Lake Tahoe Learning Center. My two children have been students there right from the start and I have been a volunteer at the school as their yearbook advisor. It has been a great school with a dedicated staff and director, Dave Rude. It is a shame that the diligent efforts of the staff, parents and students are marred by the alleged actions of others.

A school like this is needed in our community. The students, staff and volunteers did an incredible job of not only keeping the school going when the founding director, Carey Brown, left, but improved and expanded the existing program.

This community has been wonderful in its support of LTLC and I hope will continue to be. I would personally like to thank all the local businesses that put advertisements in our first (hopefully not last!) yearbook. The yearbook was funded through the generous support of these advertisers and the students. The yearbook class completed the yearbook, sent the layouts to the publisher and paid all costs before this unfortunate situation occurred. Again, I would like to thank the community for its support of Lake Tahoe Learning Center and request your continued support.
