Letter to the editor- A dog in the woods miffed

To the editor:

Whose woods these are I think I know;

their office is in the city though.

The feds won’t see me stopping here;

just resting, without a permit near.

My yellow dog must think it odd;

he shakes his head, he gives a nod.

Where is my leash — he seems to say;

has some bureaucrat given his OK?

We meet a lake, he takes a plunge;

while I watch carefully, expecting a lunge.

From the willows or the trees;

of the Puppy Police — the dreaded CTC.

“What are you doing?” he would screech;

“this whole area is out of reach.

To the unanointed; that is our creed;

(We must protect the endangered weed!)
