Letter to the editor- Barton proud of its rating
President, Board of Directors
Barton Healthcare System South Lake Tahoe
Barton Memorial Hospital is proud of the two star ratings given by patients in the recent independent survey. We participate in this evaluation program because we constantly strive to improve the medical care and emotional support we give to our patients. We thank all the patients who took the time to respond to the satisfaction survey.
Last December, when surveyed by the Joint Commission, Barton Memorial Hospital received outstanding scores. The final hospital score of 96 was achieved by only 16 percent of hospitals that were surveyed. Check online at the JCAHO site to see the results for the No. 1 hospital in the country. Our score was better, and we received no Type 1 recommendations. If this sounds like I’m crowing, I am. I want the community to know the professional independent rating of Barton Memorial Hospital is close to perfect and to thank the employees and physicians for working so consistently to care for our patients.
The Home Health agency received a 99, which was achieved by 9 percent of the 1,509 agencies surveyed in 2000. The Long Term Care facilities also achieved a 99; only 11 percent of 1,727 surveyed facilities received a similar score. With so much bad publicity about Long Term Care in other facilities in the state, this outstanding score should be noticed.
Barton Healthcare System was built with community support. We do what we do well, and that is care for the health of our community.
