Letter to the editor- Bushe doesn’t deserve the Nobel Peace Prize

Tribune

As stated in your article, “Bush, Blair up for Nobel Peace Prize.” Harald Tom Nesvik, a member to the British parliament who made the nomination, believes that war (ital) is (ital) peace, or as he so adroitly puts it, “Unfortunately, sometimes … you have to use force to secure peace.” Puh-leeze, have we succumbed to doublespeak that we are immune to pure stupidity?

Bad enough that, in the name of patriotism, the Bush administration has been granted complete amnesty in terms of civil rights, freedom of information, fiscal responsibility and, more recently, besmirched political connection. But to suggest that the Nobel Peace prize is due, not to someone like ex-president Jimmy Carter, who travels the world in the name of peace and goodwill and actively participates in lifting people out of poverty and despair, but to the overseers of ware without even knowing the outcome, is to insult the intelligence of people the world over.
