Letter to the editor- Chandler’s sarcasm is unappreciated

To the editor;

After reading Rick Chandler’s column we felt we must address his comments, even though he put a note that it could be construed as sarcasm. If his comments were meant as a joke, he should have simply stated that. Sometimes it is just better to keep your sarcasm to yourself!

The young people who perform in the Olympic events train long and hard and to make some of the statements he did were uncalled for. To simply dismiss them as pot-smoking, boring individuals is absolutely ridiculous, joking or not. The Olympics is a time this country can unite as one and I would think everyone would be proud to be a part of that. But, I tell you what, he can just sit on his couch and enjoy his soap operas or whatever he finds enticing. We, for one, will watch with great pride, our Olympians and will cheer them on in hopes they will bring home the gold!
