Letter to the editor- Congressman good for party

E. Hansen
South Lake Tahoe

In response to Dr. Kirby’s view of Congressman John T. Doolittle (Sept. 7), I have a different opinion of him. I feel that Doolittle’s voting record speaks for itself and that he is a fiscally-conservative, responsible Republican who is in touch with local issues. I am glad that he represents me. I went so far as to go to Sacramento and meet Mr. Doolittle several years ago, to see how he operates. I was impressed, to say the least. I urge Dr. Kirby to do the same. I’m sure that this opinion will change when he realizes what an honest, caring, committed man he is dealing with.

I would like to ddress Dr. Kirby’s will to “Decrease the gap between the rich and poor.” I am not rich; however, I think that everyone has the right to work hard, be honest, persevere and accomplish their goals. We are not a socialistic society, and I hope we never are.

Lastly, I would like to know who Dr. Kirby is referring to when he says, “We are failing our young people.” My husband and I are not failing our two young people. We are responsible for them. The parents are responsible – not the village.
