Letter to the editor- Guess who he’s talking about

To the editor:

We all know that democracy is a messy affair.

Since our elected officials in Washington do not work that well together at the national level, it’s no surprise that the five members of our City Council do not work effectively with one another at the local level. But the discord seems to be getting worse.

One member of the Council, in particular, is so divisive and dysfunctional that too often the others end up doing little or nothing, settling for the status quo, instead of functioning as statesmen/stateswomen with a vision for the future. It almost looks like a saboteur is obstructing the Council from focusing on the public’s business and helping the City move forward.

We are fortunate indeed to have a City Manager who can bring some clarity out of the chaos. He seems intent on actually helping the community resolve, instead of aggravate, the many problems confronting us.

Many of us have a passionate concern for the well-being of south lake Tahoe. If we got lucky, our mischief-maker would do the decent thing and resign from the Council before more damage is done. At the very least, we need to start searching today for the leaders of tomorrow who can get elected to the City council next year and provide us with proactive leadership in the future.
