Letter to the Editor: How is this town run?

I have been living in South Lake for the past six years. I am a home owner and business owner. I am confused on the way our town is run. What is the deal with the city council and their staff?

First, they allow a multimillion-dollar construction project to get started without a performance bond. If the contractor goes under, the bond company must finish the job. Not requiring a bond on this size job is unheard of in the construction industry. Then the city manager said there was no such thing as a performance bond; right there he shows he is not qualified for the job. Next, the town declines a business license for the new hardware and lumberyard at the old car dealership. The latest is that the town is refusing more money on business licenses and taxes from medical marijuana dispensaries, when we all know in the end more dispensaries will be allowed.

Stop looking out for the interests of yourselves and your friends and start looking out for the whole community.

Not to mention all the time they waste. It’s time we stop the the town council and get them off its 30 year merry go round.
