Letter to the editor- Let’s stop our rude drivers

To the editor-

I agee whole heartly with Mrs. Frances Mullen. Last Monday 7-30-01 three different Cars by the Middle school at Hwy 50 and Al Tahoe hit my little dog Sweet Pea and each time she stood back up. She made it across and died 2 feet from the curb. We just received her and she bolted out our front door and we went after her.

How many innocent people and animals have laid down their lives on Highway 50?

People consider it an expressway but it’s a residential area. My solution and I have thought about this a lot between the tears is: Instead of having the speed limit machine on Al Tahoe put it on Highway 50 especially in front of the Women’s Center. People must be ticketed more on Highway 50. Also, more street lighting on Highway 50, better sidewalks, blinking lights in the crosswalk’s pavements, finishing bike trails from the casinos to Meyers, and stiffer fines and jail time for inconsiderate drivers. We have heard of M.A. D. D. I wish there were P. A. I. D. People aganist inconsiderate drivers. We must work together for a better tommorrow.

The adage 50 on 50 must be done away with. Highway 50 is 35 miles an hour in the city limits. I appeal to people’s honesty and sensibility. Stop the slaughter now! Stop before it’s one of your sons, daughters or pets.
