Letter to the editor- Message to mom from jail

To the editor:

I’m writing this letter from county jail in South Lake Tahoe. I’m so worried about my mom. She has been smoking cigarettes for 40 years. Her doctor at Barton hospital has told my mom that her lungs are like a holed sponge. She has to be on oxygen 24 hours a day.

My mother is the sweetest lady on the planet. She has always been there for me, never given up on me, even though I keep getting in trouble. She has always seen past the trouble I get in to the good person I am.

I want to publish my thoughts in your paper so my mother will not give up hope and let her know that I love her with all my heart.

I have not smoked one cigarette in my 40 years of life. My lungs are strong, pink and healthy.

I want to give my mom one of my lungs so she can breathe. I know I’m the perfect match for her; her body would not reject a lung from her own son.

I admit I’m kind of scared about giving up a lung, but I’m a lot more scared of losing my mother.
