Letter to the editor: Minimum wage column doesn’t hold water
The opinion piece about minimum wages in last Saturday’s Tribune illustrates why it is called an opinion piece and not a factual article. The author touted Seattle’s successful minimum wage hike, when, in the short time it has been in place, minimum wage and tip earners find that they are still minimum wage earners but no longer tip earners and, in many cases, no longer full-time employees. Consumers still set values in the market place, and when the price exceeds the value, they no longer buy. Basic Economy 101.
