Letter to the editor: New hours at Zephyr Cove post office will be inconvenient

New hours at Zephyr Cove post office will be inconvenient

Nevada businesses and residents that rely on the Zephyr Cove or Stateline post offices are in for a big change. Beginning June 1, the Zephyr Cove Post office will change their window (retail) hours. Currently, you can conduct business from 8:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. On June 1, the window will not open until 10 a.m. Too bad for those of us who have businesses that are open from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. and do not close for lunch.

In addition, the Stateline post office, beginning June 10, will no longer have window (retail) service beginning at 9 a.m. They too, will not open the window until 10 a.m. and then, will close from noon to 1 p.m.

If other business people or residents feel as I do, the only way to effect a change in this decision is to contact the USPS at 1-800-275-8777 and voice your complaint. Be sure to request a call back so that your concern is documented and obtain a confirmation number.

Need to pick up a box too large for your PO Box or a certified letter? Need stamps? You’re on your way to work and run in to take care of this. That convenience will soon be gone.

I urge you to contact the USPS and help get this decision reversed.
