Letter — TRPA is way out of control

I would like to commend Bob Wheeler who heads the Committee for Reasonable Regulation of Lake Tahoe. The mission to review and analyze the actions of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency is unfortunately, sorely needed.

The TRPA is unaccountable and out of control.

Concerning the proposed scenic review regulations, last weekend’s Tahoe Daily Tribune quoted Juan Palma, the Executive Director, as saying, “We have gone as far as we can go with the community-based approach.” the article goes on, “Palma cited a lawsuit filed by the Committee for Reasonable Regulation of Lake Tahoe and 71 unresolved scenic issues as reasons negotiation are over with realtors, Lakeshore homeowners, and other interested groups.”

bob Wheeler told me personally that he found only four unresolved points within the proposed scenic review system. Disregarding all interested groups, Juan Palma wants the governing board to vote on a review system which he admits himself, contains 71 unresolved points.

The TRPA is unaccountable and out of control.
