Letter — Where’s the service gone?

Tribune

To the Editor:

We are always reading about the locals leaving Tahoe to go to Carson City, Reno or Sacramento for shopping or entertainment purposes because the service here is so poor. We can relate to that because this is one major retailer’s attitude and now we have found two more businesses with that same attitude.

My family has lived up here for over 30 years and we always went to an Italian restaurant on the east side of town for special occasions. The food and service was always excellent, except for the last time. The food and the service was terrible. When we complained we were basically told too bad. So, that night I wrote a letter to the owner and there has never been any response.

Last night we went to an Italian restaurant on the other side of town. One of the specials was veal scallopini, two of us ordered it and it was awful. The meat was tough and there were enough green and red peppers for 10 people in each serving. When we let them know it was terrible, the waitress could care less, slammed our bill on the table and that was the last we saw of her.

For years we have gone to both restaurants with no problems. I work at a resort and I sent many people to both establishments, but no more. From now on I will send them to the Olive Garden in Reno where they care about their guests!
