Letter — Why im in council race
I am grateful for the early support I have encountered as a candidate for City Council.
I have many reasons for taking on this serious endeavor and will share a few now. I’m a professional businesswoman. I have extensive and diverse experience in business. That experience coupled with my knowledge and love of Tahoe will create a positive approach to resolving issues in the city.
I’ve lived here for 42 years. I’m happily married, have two wonderful children and two grandchildren. I’m a citizen with the desire, experience and ability to work with you for a better Tahoe. I am passionate about this
community and I am ready to take the next step by seeking a seat on City Council.
I am proud of my husband who is a Lieutenant for the El Dorado Sheriffs Department. I know how important it is to have the police and fire departments come quickly in an emergency. I know how important it is for our
public safety to have all the tools and resources they need. We can’t overlook the problems as housing prices rise and school enrollments drop. We need to keep our recreation and seniors programs thriving. We need to
improve opportunities for citizens to have good, well paying jobs in a thriving diversified economy. We need a convention center here to stabilize our midweek businesses and lodging. We need positive bold leadership with a
vision and plan for the future.
I have been fortunate enough to have grown up in this beautiful community and have raised my children here. I want the city to be a safe, clean, and prosperous community for all. It is vital that our public safety funds are
not cut. I don’t want public safety to just maintain their present services, but to be able to enhance them. We need to look at new and innovative ideas to generate new revenues for the city. I would like to see the South Lake Tahoe Airport become productive by utilizing its unused facilities for generating revenue and information opportunities.
This election is important and about the issues that concern you and your families.
I want to ensure these concerns are addressed and I am committed to do so. Yes, it is a lot to accomplish. Can it be done? You bet it can. This is why I am proud to be running for City Council in November.
