Letter — Why not focus on bad guys?

Buckle up or get busted? There are still a few of us who believe it is improper for government to use

its police powers to punish adults for their personal follies. If you

disagree, then when do you suggest the police begin citing persons who are

overweight, who don’t control their blood pressure, who don’t get flu shots

or who stand on the next-to-top step of their stepladder to change a light

bulb? I, for one, think it would be far better for law officers to focus on

appropriate police functions such as enforcing speed laws and citing

individuals for reckless driving.
