Letters to the editor for Feb. 15
The primary election results were delayed. The manufacturers of the electronic touchscreen voting machines are blaming Secretary of State Debra Bowen for this delay because she decertified their products.
Touchscreen machines are vulnerable to tampering. That’s what computer-security experts concluded in the “top-to-bottom” review Bowen convened.
I’m glad they won’t be used to count my vote. I prefer to wait an extra few hours if it protects the sanctity of the “one man, one vote” principle of our great democracy. We should never again allow the glitter of a “state of the art” snake-oil salesman to blind us to ensuring an honest election. Let us never forget electronic voting machines got us George W. Bush. We all know what a disaster that’s been.
