Letters to the editor for Jan. 25

Your article in Wednesday’s paper detailing options for the Bijou erosion project was very accurate in stating that there are at least three very different possible approaches to the project, only one of which might result in the relocation of Heidi’s Restaurant. You also noted that according to Sarah Hussong Johnson, associate civil engineer with the city, no property would be taken without the permission and cooperation of the business properties.

At Heidi’s Restaurant, we have received numerous inquiries from regular guests, local business suppliers and our long-term co-workers. We want to assure everyone that after being in business at this location for the past 44 years, we have no plans to sell, pack up or go away. There are two very viable options that would not involve any disruption to the operation of Heidi’s and we urge our city to proceed in that direction.

Ms. Hussong Johnson has been very clear that our business would be relocated if and only if we were in complete agreement with the plan. Our staff and I greatly appreciate this sensitivity to our needs as longtime members of the community.
