Opinion: In the latest bout of head-scratching news…

The city of South Lake Tahoe does not have a fire marshal, but will spend thousands of dollars on a bike park and will pony up $1.2 million for a partnership between the city, school district and college for more play fields?

The California Tahoe Conservancy owns a large number of “empty” lots in the city. The CTC does not clear the lots of fuel that could feed a wildfire. The CTC is an irresponsible real estate broker. It is not a conservancy but it spent millions to pretty up El Dorado Beach which is now Lake View Commons and more will be spent on the 56 acre project for the benefit of tourism. The cash cows are busy throwing money around to what end? Not on fire prevention for sure, why not?

Wildfire is raging in Northern California but the city does not have a fire marshal and the CTC goes its merry way whistling in the dark. Wildfire — what is that?
