STHS should provide parking

Rebecca Penn, Stateline

To the editor:

I’ve been following the debate about how to solve the parking/loitering problem on Gardner mountain from the high school students. I realize that the parking situation is only part of the problem, however, the high school has a lower back parking lot adjacent to the football field. It has been abandoned and neglected for many years. The entrance is on Gardner Street. The parking lot should be cleared of the overgrown trees and resurfaced. The gate should be unlocked for students to utilize the space.

I graduated from South Tahoe High School in 1980 and even way back then there was a parking problem. I have since heard that the students have to pay a fee to park at school; no wonder they park on the street.

The city having to find a solution is ridiculous. The school needs to take responsibility and provide adequate parking for both student and staff.
