Oregon slaying suspect arrested in Placerville

GRANTS PASS, Ore. (AP) – Police have arrested a relative of the couple shot dead at their home in the Southern Oregon community Merlin.

Josephine County sheriff’s deputies say 58-year-old Gary Lyle Goins was arrested on aggravated murder charges Tuesday at a convenience store near his home in Placerville, Calif. He was held at the Placer County Jail.

Deputies say he is the brother of Dennis Goins, who was found shot dead at his home on Monday along with his wife, Susan Goins.

Deputies released no further details on the shooting or what the motive may have been.
