Pageant helps young women

The Miss Lake Tahoe Scholarship Foundation is looking for contestants for the Miss Lake Tahoe-California and Miss Lake Tahoe-Nevada 2003 titles.

California eligible contestants include high school seniors and anyone living and going to school in El Dorado County, who are 17 to 24 years of age. Nevada eligible contestants include seniors and past graduates of George Whittell High School and Douglas County residents living at Lake Tahoe, who are 17 to 24 years of age.

Every contestant is guaranteed scholarship money for participating and there is no entry fee. This year, more than $10,000 in scholarship money will be awarded to deserving young ladies.

Young women who need funds for continued education and this opportunity appeals to them may call (530) 577-4603. Leave name, age, address and phone number and an application will be sent in the mail. This year the pageant will take place in January.

The Miss Lake Tahoe Scholarship Foundation also is recruiting new board members. Everyone has some type of talent or expertise to share. Even people who have just a little time to volunteer are welcome as their valuable assistance can be used. For more information call the above phone number.
