E. Peter Darvas will be at Tahoe Country in Heavenly Village from noon to 4 p.m. Friday through Sunday with his Sierra portfolio and more.

The paintings of Darvas combine a wonderful versatility with brilliant expressiveness and flawless technical quality. His paintings deal with an ever-changing variety of subjects depicted in a distinctive impressionistic style. His canvases are alive with reality and expression yet never appear belabored or meticulous.

Darvas works with oils, watercolor, acrylics and serigraphs, and he also sculpts. His work is reflective of his Southwestern artistic heritage and frequent visits to Mexico as well as trips to the Caribbean Islands and the Mediterranean. A career that spans some 30 years began with his first one-man show at age 16. Since then, Darvas has had some 70 major exhibitions throughout the United States and abroad.

He has been featured in Southwest Art and Artists of the Rockies magazines and is included in the books “Contemporary Western Artists” and “Marquis Who’s Who in America.”

Although Darvas holds a degree in fine art from the University of Texas at Austin, he credits most of his training to living in Taos, N.M. for 10 years, traveling the Southwest, and being a part of its rich artistic ambiance. At present he divides his time between his two homes at South Lake Tahoe and Bahia San Carlos, Sonora, Mexico.
