South Tahoe blanked Incline 2-0 in its girls’ soccer league opener Thursday in Incline Village.

Senior Ali Palacios scored both goals for the Vikings. Palacios struck first in the fifth minute, beating her defender one-on-one, the slotting the ball into the lower corner of the net. Her second goal came off a breakaway in the 72nd minute.

Vikings’ coach Chris DeLeon said the tight game is something that will be prevalent in the reshaped 3A league.

“It’s going to be competitive,” he said. “There are no issues about that. These teams are pretty even. It’s going to be a good year. I don’t think we’ll see any blowouts by any means.”

The Vikings (3-1) play host to Whittell on Tuesday.
