‘Party of parties’ helps fight AIDS
May 22, 2003
“Think Globally, Act Locally,” the annual AIDS fund-raiser at Riva Grill on the Lake, will be held June 9 from 6:30 to 9 p.m. The event benefits those living with HIV/AIDS on both sides of the border via the Sierra Foothills AIDS Foundation, with 15 percent benefiting a Romanian AIDS group.
The fund-raiser was called “the party of parties” in the Tahoe Daily Tribune, following last year’s event.
“One of the things that made the night incredibly successful was the diversity of the guests,” said Maxine Alper of the Sierra Foothills AIDS Foundation. There was broad representation from all facets of the Lake Tahoe community and that was inspiring.”
This year’s event will feature the much talked about band, Blue Turtle Seduction, with an opening set by Awkward and a 15-minute set by drumming group, Java Djembe.
“Riva Grill on the Lake provides us wonderful food and wine and you just can’t get a better deal for the price,” says event co-chair Trish McGraw.
Sue Barton, who is heading the silent auction drive, welcomes all donations.
