Passaretti earns degree in communications

Dan and Tai Passaretti announce the graduation of their daughter, Jena Andre Passaretti, on June 17 from Eleanor Roosevelt College, University of California, San Diego, with a degree of bachelor of arts in communications with an emphasis on educational development studies. Passaretti was awarded with provost honors for multiple quarters. In summer 2004 she was invited to work an internship for CNN at the Democrat National Convention in Boston, Mass., alongside CNN news-casters Anderson Cooper and Wolf Blitzer. She also worked throughout her entire college career helping to support herself as well as student-teaching in various classroom is the San Diego area.
A native of South Lake Tahoe, Passaretti attended Sierra House Elementary and South Tahoe Middle School before graduating with honors from South Tahoe High School. She was secretary of Lake Tahoe Community College Foreign Language Club and accompanied her AP English class to Italy and Greece. Passaretti also played clarinet and flute in the schools’ orchestras. She worked her high school years at her family’s restaurant, Passaretti’s Italian Cuisine.
Her brother, Paul, will begin his junior year at STHS in the fall.
Passaretti has been accepted into the graduate school at UCSD, where she will spend one year earning a master’s of education and teacher credential. She plans to take a comprehensive tour throughout Europe before beginning her master’s program in August. Future career plans include teaching at the elementary level, as well as at the high school level, where she plans to engage an arts and media emphasis in the classroom.
