Passes for Johnson Pass will be issued during Highway 50 closure

SOUTH LAKE TAHOE, Calif.- Residents who work or go to school on one side of Echo Summit and live on the other will be allowed to use Johnson Pass Lane with a pass issued by Caltrans during the two-week closure slated for May. Only travel to and from school or work will be permitted, according to a statement issued by

Caltrans Wednesday.

Proof of work or school and residence, such as a pay stub, report card or utility bill, will be required to obtain a pass. Access will be strictly limited and enforced by California Highway Patrol, according to the statement.

Passes will be issued from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. on the following dates: April 21, April 27-28 and May 4-5 at Caltrans South Lake Tahoe Maintenance Yard, 223 Cornelian Drive.
