Phish to play two Tahoe concerts this summer
This Phish story is true.
Phish, the legendary jam band, will tour this summer. It announced today two shows, Tuesday and Wednesday, Aug. 9-10, at the Lake Tahoe Outdoor Arena at Harveys.
Rumors began circulating on the Internet last week of the 30-show, nationwide Phish tour, which begins May 27 at Bethel, New York and finishes in Chicago Aug. 17.
“It’s the real deal – It’s confirmed,” John Packer, Harrah’s director of entertainment said Monday.
It will be the first time Phish will play at Tahoe. It will perform in Los Angeles for the first time since 2003 at the Hollywood Bowl on Aug. 8, and at San Francisco’s Outside Lands Music Festival on Aug. 12.
All tickets are $50. Doors open at 5 p.m. and the show will be from 6:30-10:30 p.m.
“This is different from what we would do with summer concert series,” Packer said. “It’s not exactly a casino-oriented type of act, but we’ve always tried to mix it up. We’ve had general admission shows for Wilco, Incubus, Ben Harper and Jack Johnson, so it’s not really a departure.
“It’s just a great opportunity to have one of the most popular acts of its genre ever to be coming to Tahoe. And it will be a great boost to its economy on a midweek basis.”
