Photographer wins art contest

Jason Woodcock won first prize in the Tahoe Art League November art contest with his fine-art photograph of the falls at Emerald Bay. He presented a unique and dramatic image full of movement and reflected color.

Woodcock is passionate about nature photography. He hopes his viewer will not only see nature through his eyes, but also share his feeling and appreciation of wilderness at that moment. His works are on display at the Village Gallery in Heavenly Village. Inquire about his art at jawphotos@yahoo.com.

Second prize was awarded to Jeanne Hart for her oil painting “Pointsettias,” a perfect image for the upcoming holidays. Hart has learned her technique well from Gary Jenkins, a well-known art educator from Nevada. To learn more about Hart’s artwork, contact her at (530) 545-9877.

Nancy Clarke’s oil painting of “Wood’s Lake Outlet” won third prize. Clarke’s art speaks of pleasant times and special places in the Sierra. If you would like to see her renditions of Roundtop Peak and Caples Lake, visit Passaretti’s Restaurant, where the newest exhibit features several of her paintings. E-mail her at nanronclarke@webtv.net.

The winning art is on display on the TAL Web site at http://www.talart.org and at the Lake Tahoe Community College Library.
