Planner returns to TRPA’s Governing Board

Staff reports
Mara Bresnick - TRPA Governing Board member

A new member joined the Governing Board of the Tahoe Regional Planning Agency in June. Mara Bresnick, who has more than 20 years of experience handling land-use issues, was appointed to the board by California Assembly Speaker Fabian Nunez (D-Los Angeles).

The board sets policy and approves amendments to the agency’s regional plan for Lake Tahoe. The 15-person board includes seven representatives from California and seven from Nevada, and one nonvoting presidential appointee.

Bresnick is a familiar face: she served on the Governing Board from 1997 to 1999. She replaces Reed Holderman, who served from February 2003 through March 2005.

The Sacramento native has experience handling land-use issues, including strategic planning, regulatory guidance, environmental assessments and project management.

Formerly a land-use attorney in Southern California, Bresnick has most recently worked as a project manager for environmental consulting firms and development companies.
